Dub's Dread Golf Club - Kansas City, KS

Named one of the Top 10 Golf Courses in the state by Golf Digest, Dub's Dread Golf Club in Kansas City, KS

is known for its superb design complete with meandering lakes, majestic trees, exceptionally large greens and premier playing conditions. Opened in the early 1960’s the course was at the time the longest golf course in the world, however, it now plays somewhat shorter with yardages ranging from 5,400 yards to as long as 7,100 yards.

Dub’s Dread is known for its natural layout features, complete with majestic trees lining each fairway. A series of lakes meander around unique holes, which feature exceptionally large, undulating greens.

An 18-hole championship course, Dub's Dread Golf Course was designed by Jug McSpaden and is known for hosting a plethora of high-profile matches featuring legendary players such as Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The course boasts four sets of tees making it playable for golfers of all skill levels, but it is certainly a challenging track right down to the thick rough. The challenge begins immediately with the 1st hole, a 515 yard par-5 dogleg right. Those that can shape the ball to the right will be in good position for their second shot, but get greedy and go too far right and trees will block your second shot making a layup the only play. The green is positioned on a slight incline and is protected by sand traps on both the right and left side of the green.

If this doesn’t get your attention, the par-3 4th certainly will. Playing 216 yards from the back tees, players must hit over a large lake to an extremely difficult green. Don’t let the 11 handicap rating fool you. A less-than-stellar tee shot and you will be left scrambling for bogey.

The back nine is not much easier, highlighted by the par-3 11th and the par-4 14th. Playing 234 yards from the back tees, the 11th requires not only a precise tee shot, but also a long one as players must carry a large lake that stretches across the entire fairway. The 14th is the course’s #2 handicap and plays 444 yards from the tips. Trees line both sides of the fairway making accuracy off the tee a must if you want an attempt at the elevated green on your second shot.
